FUE
Follicular unit extraction
Individual follicles are taken from the back and sides of the scalp and placed into small channels. The standard method, suited to most patterns.

FUE, Sapphire FUE and DHI with our partner clinics. We look at your pattern and donor area first, tell you what is realistic, and plan four days in Istanbul around the procedure.

Techniques
FUE
Individual follicles are taken from the back and sides of the scalp and placed into small channels. The standard method, suited to most patterns.
Sapphire FUE
The same extraction, with channels opened by a sapphire blade instead of steel. Smaller incisions allow denser placement and can make early healing tidier.
DHI
Follicles are placed with a pen-like implanter, without opening channels first. Useful for adding density in thinning areas without shaving the whole head.
Beard & brows
Smaller sessions for patchy beards, moustaches or thin eyebrows, using single-hair grafts placed at the natural angle.

Four days in Istanbul
Day 1
Transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon you meet the surgeon, agree the hairline, and have routine blood tests.
Day 2
A long day of six to eight hours under local anaesthetic, with breaks and lunch. You can listen to music or watch something. A coordinator takes you back to the hotel.
Day 3
The clinic removes the dressing, washes the area and shows you how to do it yourself. You leave with medication and written instructions.
Day 4
Transfer to the airport. Most people are back at desk work within a week; avoid the gym, swimming and direct sun for about a month.
Growth timeline
This is the usual pattern after a transplant. Everyone grows at a different pace, and the shedding in the first weeks is part of it.

The first two weeks are about protecting the grafts: sleeping slightly upright, washing gently as shown, and avoiding hats that press on the area. Small scabs fall away in about ten days.
You send photos at the agreed points and a coordinator reads them with the clinic. If anything looks unusual, you hear from us the same day.

Questions
It depends on the area you want to cover and how much your donor area can safely give. We give a range from your photos and the surgeon confirms it on the day. Be wary of any clinic quoting a large number without seeing your donor area.
Transplanted follicles usually keep growing, but the hair around them can carry on thinning. Many surgeons recommend medication to protect existing hair; you can discuss this with your GP.
Transplanted hairs shed in the first weeks, which is expected. New growth starts around month three or four, and the final result shows between twelve and eighteen months.
For most FUE sessions the donor area is shaved. Unshaven or partly shaven DHI is possible for smaller sessions; we ask the clinic in advance if this matters to you.
